Good lord, this looks so fresh and so clean, clean. The want is strong. So very strong.
Do you see this, Chrysler designers? Can you not sense the gusta?!

THAT should replace the challenger

I saw this and was like, "They DON'T make that??" I had to go to Dodge's website to confirm. They do not.

That actually looks pretty good

I'd drive it.
To automobile manufacturers, or anyone selling any goods for that matter, that should be the ultimate deciding factor. Will people (your market, and the wider appeal the better) spend their money on it? Will they, in this case, drive it?
Pay attention OEM's.

Agreed, add the Challenger front end maybe and you have what the Challenger should have looked like.
![]() 09/24/2013 at 15:09 |

Hell yes.
It's not like it'd be a gamble either. This has been cried for since 1999 when the original concept (new) Charger came out.

Looks great, until you realize that it would still only be offered in an archaic 5sp auto.

It would absolutely be a gamble. Every coupe produced today is a gamble. Yes, you can look at the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger and point to their recent success, but by and large, in the modern marketplace, coupes are a gamble for automakers; they just don't sell that well over time.

People saying they'd spend their money and people actually spending their money are two very different things.
Some people spending their money in the first year or two of production and many people spending their money over many years of production are also two very different things.

I feel like this looks a lot less bloated and fat, and more like a serious Camaro/Mustang competitor. The current one is just too huge to handle like the other two. If the new one looked like this and was about 400-500 pounds lighter, I would definitely consider that a proper competitor.

Agreed -I think the Challenger is a fat turd in the physics and looks department. HEMI can only do so much. Heck, you have me wondering what platform the Challenger is built on now? Hmmmm....
![]() 09/24/2013 at 15:17 |

I looks a lot like Godzilla. Lot's of similar styling cues already, now that it got 2-doored, it looks even more like it.
...and I am not upset about that it, is still an awesome idea and stands on its own just fine, just reminiscent of the GT-R,

LC - Shortened LX (Charger/300) platform.
![]() 09/24/2013 at 15:19 |

Both the challenger and the charger are on the LX platform. I wonder which one they'd use for this..? I don't think fiat has one big enough.

The 8-speed ZF is coming to the R/T at the least, possibly the SRT8.
Yes, no manual.

Your words ring true. But, building things no one says they'll spend their money on isn't exactly a long term strategy either. *shrugs* I don't claim to be an expert in the automotive sales field. I've spent a metric sh*t-ton of money on cars, but never manufactured them. Thankfully, through God, or good genes or pure luck, I've been blessed with the business acumen to build a very successful enterprise that supports my habit. Otherwise I'd probably have to sell crack. I'm not giving up my cars.

I thought so but then again all great American Muscle comes from shortened sedan chassis'?
Makes me hate it more.
![]() 09/24/2013 at 15:22 |

That's good. The formula sounds right, but I have no idea if this is a good car or not because the lack of a manual, or even a decent duel clutch, keeps this well off my radar.

Flat-front, full width grille, like challenger, but squarer ends, center split like some chargers and barracudas. Split the lower intake into two pieces, as well... Use the bumper beam and the center splits in the upper and lower grilles as the cross-hair theme.
Bring the quarter windows all the way to a point at the base of the C-pillar.
Submerge the rear glass behind the C-pillar a bit more.
Should be what Charger was.
Add a flat chisel aero nose and a high wing for Daytona package. :P

So...we could have had a discount V8 GT-R. That's what you're telling me. And the Platform comes in 4WD trim. So yes. We could have had a discount V8 GT-R. God. Fucking. Damnit...!

Next you're going to tell me it weighs 3,200 lbs and has a manual

As a kid, I was pissed that Dodge screwed the pooch and brought the Charger out as a 4-door. Should have called it something else entirely.
If the performance market wasn't so cost prohibitive, the coupe + good aftermarket could have made a great bit of money for the Mopar group...
